Former Minnesota Attorney General Mike Hatch, who filed Tuesday to run for his old job, says he’s pulling out of the race. Hatch’s move is not unexpected after he hinted that his entry into the attorney general race could be a “placeholder” until he saw who else jumped in. With Hatch out, there are five Democrats running for state attorney general in the August primary: Party-endorsed candidate Matt Pelikan, 5th District Congressman Keith Ellison, state Representative Debra Hilstom, former Ramsey County Attorney Tom Foley and former state Commerce Commissioner Mike Rothman. Republican-endorsed candidate Doug Wardlow also has a challenger in the August primary: former state Senator Bob Lessard.
