Derek Chauvin, one of four former officers charged in George Floyd’s death, has been released from prison on bond. Chauvin was released from the Minnesota Correctional Facility at Oak Park Heights to post bail in Hennepin County just before 11:30 am this morning. Chauvin’s unconditional bail was set at $1.25 million, or $1 million with conditions. According to the Hennepin County Sheriff’s roster, he was released on conditional bail. Chauvin has been charged with second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. Floyd’s death in May sparked days of protest and riots in downtown Minneapolis and elsewhere in the country.
