A 19-year-old former student is charged with arson after police say she set a rash of fires on the St. Catherine University campus in St. Paul Wednesday. Tnuza Jamal Hassan is accused of setting a chair on fire in a dormitory, which also serves as a daycare. 33 children were present at the time the fire was set–no one was injured. Officials say Hassan admitted to setting fires in six different buildings on the campus and said she set them in response to the U-S military destroying schools in Iraq or Afghanistan. According to the criminal complaint, Hassan also said “you guys are lucky that I don’t know how to build a bomb, because I would have done that.”
