The Minnesota Twins, in partnership with the Minnesota Twins Community Fund Board of Directors, today named longtime club executive Dave St. Peter winner of the 2025 Terry Ryan Award. St. Peter, a driving force in growing baseball and softball throughout the Upper Midwest for more than three decades, will be celebrated during a pregame ceremony ahead of the Twins’ 1:10 p.m. home game vs. the Chicago White Sox this Sunday, August 30 at Target Field. Terry Ryan Award
The Terry Ryan Award, named after the Twins Hall of Famer and former club executive vice president and general manager, honors individuals who share Terry’s advocacy of baseball and softball at all levels — especially for youth participants. The award is voted on by the Minnesota Twins Community Fund Board of Directors and has been given annually since 2006.
2025 Terry Ryan Award Winner: Dave St. Peter
One of the most consequential executives in Twins and recent Minnesota sports history, St. Peter originally joined the organization in 1990, was named the club’s fourth president in November 2002, assumed the Chief Executive Officer title in December 2016 and transitioned to the role of Strategic Advisor in March 2025. For more than three decades, his leadership has paired on-field success with an unwavering commitment to the community, creating opportunities for countless young athletes to learn, play and excel.
Under St. Peter’s guidance, the Twins Community Fund — founded in 1991 — has flourished as one of the most impactful charitable arms in Major League Baseball. He has tirelessly championed programs that lower barriers to participation, enhance facilities and create safe, welcoming environments for kids of all backgrounds.
Long a trusted voice for youth sports leaders across the Upper Midwest, St. Peter’s philosophy is simple and powerful: the Twins’ legacy is measured not only in wins, but in the number of kids who feel the game belongs to them. Key accomplishments in St. Peter’s tenure include:
• The Fields for Kids grant program, which has built and renovated more than 900 baseball and softball fields across Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa and western Wisconsin — providing access to safe, quality playing surfaces.
• Expanding the Twins’ free Youth Baseball and Softball Clinics to more than 60 annually throughout the region, teaching fundamentals while fostering mentorship between aspiring athletes and the community.
• Supporting leagues in need with Equipment and Uniform Assistance, ensuring that financial challenges don’t keep kids off the field.
From his childhood playing baseball on the public diamonds of Bismarck, North Dakota — where he learned firsthand the value of accessible fields, patient coaches and the bonds forged through the game — to his 36 years and counting with the Twins, St. Peter remains a passionate proponent of youth sports as vehicles for confidence, teamwork and community pride.
