Franken calls federal health care deal “very promising”

Senator Al Franken calls a deal to resume federal payments to health insurers “very promising” and says it appears it would restore cuts to federal funding for MinnesotaCare. President Trump, who initiated the reductions, said he supports the agreement as “a short-term solution so we don’t have this very dangerous little period” — but also indicated he’s moving ahead to dismantle Obamacare. Analysts say strong opposition by some conservatives makes the fate of the deal uncertain in Congress. Health insurers warn, unless the federal funding is quickly restored, premiums will go up.
