In what could be the first effort of its kind in Minnesota, there’s a free veterinary clinic today (10am-2pm) for cats and dogs owned by those staying at the Harbor Light homeless shelter in downtown Minneapolis. The Salvation Army’s John Adams says service and companion animals are allowed at the Harbor Light — but the goal is healthy animals that people can take with them to permanent housing. Adams says, “What I’m hearing is a lot of clients will… be living outside because they don’t want to give up their pets, because their pets do provide a lot of support for them.”
WellHaven Pet Health is providing free vaccinations for dogs and cats…flea, tick and heartworm prevention…and microchipping so lost animals can be reunited with their owners.
