Friday morning news briefs

A man is dead after an officer involved shooting in east St. Paul last night. Police responded to a domestic violence call with a female victim claiming to be shot at by the suspect in a residence where children were present. When officers arrived, they found the woman a block away from the home uninjured, but she told them the suspect had fired at her twice. Officers located the suspect and shots were fired. The suspect died at the scene. Police did locate a gun. And Several officers were wearing activated body cameras. The BCA is investigating.

The investigation continues after a man and woman were found dead in a parked car north of the Twin Cities in Coon Rapids. No obvious signs of trauma were found on the 22-year old male and 20-year old female and police say there is no threat to the public. Autopsies are being performed today.

A Kandiyohi County lake is the latest to have a confirmed finding of zebra mussels. The DNR says the invasive species was found in George Lake near Spicer. A total of three mussels were discovered on two docks being removed from the lake.

Governor Dayton has proclaimed this “Minnesota Lynx Day.” The team is scheduled to appear at the Governor’s Residence on Summit Avenue this morning (9:30) following a big parade across the river last night. The party ran down University Avenue and finished with a rally at Williams Arena where they won their latest WNBA Championship.
