There’s sharp criticism at the State Capitol today from front-line users of the state’s new drivers license and vehicle registration system. Scott Lambert with the Minnesota Auto Dealers Association says since the launch of MNLARS in late July, car dealers have gone backwards “in their ability to conduct business, and they have gone backwards in their ability to satisfy their customers.” Lambert says the state is behind 79 days in issuing vehicle titles, owners can’t transfer specialty plates and on the best of days the system crashes.
Governor Mark Dayton this morning apologized to Minnesotans who have been inconvenienced, saying although the system has properly processed 1.7 million vehicle registrations and 600 thousand title transfers since the rollout, it’s “far from where it should be.”
