A fundraiser in Stillwater today to raise money and awareness about sex trafficking. Oregon photographer Lauren Trantham is riding her motorcycle across the country, showing pictures of victims she’s met along the way. She says it’s to “let them know that we care, and show society that this does exist and that these are our girls.” Money raised goes to the Rebecca Becker Initiative, which was set up by a woman who was forced into prostitution by a boyfriend.
Becker says after she was rescued by the F-B-I she found no support systems where she lived for women like her, “so we started an organization that offers on-line classes and mentoring to survivors… all across America who live in communities where services don’t exist.” The fundraiser is from 3 to 9pm Saturday at Maple Island Brewery in Stillwater.
