Funeral services are this morning (11am) in Excelsior (Westwood Community Church) for the 16-year-old fatally shot by Carver County deputies last week. The mother of 16-year-old Archer Amorosi called 9-1-1 Friday, saying her son was suicidal and threatening her with weapons. Investigators say Amorosi ran out the front door of the home holding a hatchet and what appeared to be a handgun, deputies deployed a Taser, which was ineffective, and at one point fired their weapons.
Tuesday evening the B-C-A released the names of the two sheriff’s deputies who discharged their firearms. Corporal Jacob Hodge has been with the Carver County Sheriff’s Office for 18 years and Deputy Travis Larson has been with the department for two years. Both are on standard administrative leave.
