A group of G-O-P lawmakers is trying to block Southwest Light Rail in the Twin Cities, but it remains to be seen whether they have enough votes in the Senate, where Republicans hold only a one-vote majority. Mound Senator David Osmek (OZ-mek) says some rural Democrats are very much against Southwest Light Rail, evidenced by what happened when D-F-Lers controlled both the Minnesota House and Senate:
“They had the chance of a lifetime to put it into place, and they didn’t do it. Why? Because rural Democrats know what Republicans know about this, that it is a boondoggle of biblical proportion.”
Osmek predicts in the end every Republican in the Senate will support the bill.
