The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced that on April 12, Team Ambassador Kevin Garnett will make his first appearance at Target Center since 2018 as part of Fan Appreciation Night, when the team hosts the New Orleans Pelicans in its regular-season finale. The most iconic player in franchise history returns to the Twin Cities for a special night, kicking off his long-awaited reunification with the organization and following the announcement of his role as Team Ambassador earlier this season.

During the 2026–27 NBA season, the Timberwolves will honor Garnett’s enduring impact by raising his No. 21 jersey in the rafters at Target Center, with ceremony details to be announced at a later date.

Garnett’s return marks a milestone for the organization, signaling a new era of alignment, momentum and commitment to delivering best-in-class, fan-focused experiences. The reunion will evoke KG’s 1990’s era, featuring special in game moments and several of his former teammates joining the festivities. Fans will be part of the action all night with exclusive in game experiences and giveaways, capped by a halftime performance from hip hop legend Montell Jordan, best known for the ultimate 1990’s anthem, “This Is How We Do It,” all designed to celebrate and thank Wolves fans for their passion and loyalty.

“I can’t wait to come home,” said Garnett. “Coming back for me is about what’s next. I’ve spent time with Marc and Alex, and you can feel the difference. The energy is real. The vision is real. They’re building something that lasts, with a team on the court that’s hungry to win. I’m excited to be back in the building with the fans. Minnesota, let’s go!”

“Kevin Garnett has always represented the heart and intensity of this franchise,” said Timberwolves & Lynx Co Chairmen Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez. “The energy he generates is unmistakable, and welcoming him home to Target Center is a moment our fans have been eagerly anticipating.”

Garnett was drafted fifth overall by Minnesota in the 1995 NBA Draft out of Farragut Career Academy High School in Chicago. He spent 14 seasons with the Timberwolves, earning the 2004 NBA MVP award, 10 All-Star selections, multiple All-NBA honors (including three First Team selections), and 8 NBA All-Defensive Team nods, while leading the team through the second-most successful era in franchise history. He remains Minnesota’s all-time leader in points, rebounds, steals, blocks, games played and minutes. Garnett won an NBA championship with the Boston Celtics in 2008 and was enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020.
