The support has been overwhelming. So says Mohamed Omar, Executive Director of Dar Al Farooq Islamic Center in Bloomington. A community gathering is planned at the center this evening in the wake of Saturday’s bombing. Omar says “nobody was planning to have a bomb in the middle of the neighborhood.” He says since then, people who were moved and saddened by the incident have reached out and “we want to tell them that we are doing okay and thank you for standing by us and supporting us.” The FBI is investigating the incident. On Sunday, Governor Mark Dayton called the incident an “act of terrorism” and he called on the community to unite against such attacks. Worshipers were gathered for morning prayers at the time of the bombing. No one was injured. A GoFundMe page has been set up for the center. So far, more than $70,000 has been raised.
