A Republican challenger to Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar was arrested twice this year for allegedly shoplifting items at two stores in suburban Minneapolis, according to a report in The Guardian. The British publication reports Danielle Stella, a 31-year-old special ed teacher, stole items worth over two thousand dollars from a Target store and 40 dollars worth of goods from a grocery store. According to the criminal complaint, Stella told police she remembers arriving at Target to purchase items but nothing else because of P-T-S-D. She’s said publicly she was the victim of a severe violent assault in 2018. She told The Guardian if she was guilty of crimes she would never run for public office “putting myself… under a microscope to be attacked by all political sides.”
The Guardian also reports an arrest warrant was issued for Stella after she didn’t show up for a court hearing in early April.
