Top Republicans and Democrats are pointing fingers after reports that the state Board of Teaching did not notify law enforcement of allegations of sexual misconduct or inappropriate behavior against at least 17 teachers dating back to the 1980s. Republican Representative Jenifer Loon blames Democratic Governor Mark Dayton’s appointees, saying, “I cannot conceive of the notion that they were not responsible for taking that action. Dayton responds when the Board of Teaching by law is reconstituted next month, he will strongly urge them to follow “legal and moral obligations to report any such instances of misconduct to the proper authorities.” Dayton calls Loon’s assertions that he opposed such reporting “completely untrue.”
