Minnesota House Democrats introduce bills today (Thurs) to expand the MinnesotaCare health insurance program, beef up certain programs in Minnesota schools, and improve high speed Internet access in rural Minnesota. House Speaker Melissa Hortman says it’s too early to know the cost. “I think we really have a long road to travel before we figure out what the elements of the budget will be…. but this is an agenda that reflects the values that Minnesotans brought to us,” Hortman says. Republican Representative Tim Miller from Prinsburg warns, “Small businesses, farmers, young families, middle-income families, look out. They’re coming after you to pay for all of this.”
Also expect Republicans and Democrats to wrangle over a gas tax increase, which Governor Tim Walz is pushing.
