Republican leaders are asking a Ramsey County judge to order Governor Mark Dayton to restore funding that he vetoed for the Minnesota Legislature, which has been up in the air because of a court battle. The district judge extended funding for the legislature through October 1st and later ruled Dayton’s vetoes unconstitutional. The governor appealed to the Minnesota Supreme Court, which ruled Dayton was within his authority to veto funding for the legislature, but also ordered the two sides into mediation says they should “resolve these doubts through the political process.” Meditation failed to produce an agreement, Dayton and G-O-P leaders reported that back to the high court, and that’s where things have stood, until today.
