GOP says MN Senate Dems’ budget outline is “reckless and unsustainable”

April 13, 2016 By Bill Werner

Sen. David Hann (R-Eden Prairie)

“Reckless and unsustainable,” say Minnesota Senate Republicans about Democrats’ state budget outline released today. Senate Minority Leader David Hann (HAN) says the state is already overcollecting from taxpayers and now Democrats propose 800 million dollars in additional spending.  Hann says “we need to talk about how to reduce our tax burden on our economy, so that the economy can grow, that we can produce more jobs, more economic activity.”  Democrats warn permanent tax cuts could put the state budget in deficit in future years. Among their proposals: 85 million dollars to improve broadband Internet access in Greater Minnesota and 91 million dollars to begin addressing economic disparities in Minnesota’s communities of color.
