House Speaker Kurt Daudt (R-Crown)
Republicans say Governor Mark Dayton’s supplemental budget plan unveiled today does not have nearly enough tax cuts. Dayton says much as he’d like to do that, plus make more investments, “we’re not gonna sacrifice the fiscal integrity of this state on tax giveaways or excessive spending.” House Speaker, Republican Kurt Daudt responds the governor, instead of proposing that families get some of their money back, wants to take more money out of their budgets. Daudt is talking about Dayton’s proposal to increase the gasoline tax, which the governor said last December was dead, but now says it’s the only real way to address Minnesota’s road and bridge needs.
