(Minneapolis, MN) — The Big Ten Conference voted yesterday to postpone all fall sports through the end of the calendar year with hopes of playing in the spring. The conference says if conditions improve in relation to the coronavirus, it will consider a return after the new year. Commissioner Kevin Warren, a former Vikings executive, says “it became abundantly clear that there was too much uncertainty regarding potential medical risks to allow our student-athletes to compete this fall. Golden Gopher athletic director Mark Coyle says he is disappointed for the student-athletes involved and met with many of them yesterday to explain the decision. Coyle says they responded in a positive manner and understand why the delay was implemented.
