The Minnesota Gophers (2-4, 0-0 Big Ten) picked up the 10-4 win over No. 7 Oregon State (5-2) on Sunday afternoon. This is the first time the Gophers have beaten the Beavers since 1999 where they took the home series 3-0.
Jameson Martin and Josh Fitzgerald led the Gopher offense with three RBIs each. Martins came off a three run home run. Fitzgeralds picked up two off an RBI single and then a solo home run.
Drew Berkland and Easton Richter added two RBIs of their own. Berklands came off a two run home run and Richter and RBI single.
Justin Thorsteinson got the start for the Gophers on the mound throwing 4.2 with five strikeouts. He only allowed two hits. Caden Capomaccio entered in relief and threw 0.1 with a strike out. Seth Clausen entered in the bottom of the sixth throwing 2.0 innings with two strikeouts. Sperry closed the game with 4 strikeouts through 2.0 innings. He picked up his first Gopher win of the season.
How it Happened
– The Beavers got one in the bottom of the third on a sacrifice fly.
– Elbeery got the top of the fourth started with a single and came around to score off Drew Berklands two run home run to give the Gophers a 2-1 lead.
– The Gophers had a big sixth inning adding on five runs. Fitzgerald got things going with a RBI single to score two. Freshman Jameson Martin then added three with a three run home run.
– Oregon State got three back in the bottom of the seventh off a RBI single and two run home run.
– Minnesota got three back in the top of the eighth after a solo shot from Fitzgerald and an RBI single from Easton Richter that scored two.

-Berkland hit his third home run of the season which puts him just one away from last year’s season total.
– Jameson Martin hit his first career home run.
– Fitzgerald hit his second home run of the season.
– Knoll, Berkland, and Fitzgerald all picked up two hits.
– Minnesota’s offense picked up a season high 10 hits.
– The Gophers recorded a season high three home runs.
– The Gopher pitching staff recorded 12 strikeouts.
– Caden Capomaccio made his first appearance throwing 0.1 picking up a strikeout.
– The Gophers out hit the Beavers 10-8.
