Minnesota received contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, helping the Golden Gophers put 12 runs on the board and beat the St. Thomas (MN) Tommies 12-2 Wednesday.

Senior Justin Thorsteinson (2-3) got the win out of the bullpen for Minnesota (13-17). The left-hander went two shutout innings, giving up two hits. Sophomore Kyle Remington also pitched well, going two shutout innings without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 2-0, the Golden Gophers first put runs on the board in the third inning. Senior Jake Perry put Minnesota on the board with a one-out solo home run off senior Tucker Huhn.

The Golden Gophers kept the Tommies off the board before taking the lead in the fourth. The Minnesota offense exploded for six runs, highlighted by a two-run double off the bat of senior Josh Fitzgerald, which brought the Golden Gophers lead to 7-2.

Minnesota kept St. Thomas (MN) without a run before building their lead to 12-2 in the seventh inning. The Golden Gophers bats heated up in the inning, scoring five runs, including a one-run single off the bat of sophomore Charlie Sutherland. The score remained 12-2 for the rest of the game, as Minnesota coasted to the win.
