MINNEAPOLIS- The Gopher baseball team (6-7, 1-2 Big Ten) is set to face the Kansas Jayhawks (14-1, 0-0 Big 12) for two midweek games at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Last Time Out
– The Gophers dropped the first two games of the three game series versus Purdue before bouncing back for a come from behind victory on Sunday. The Gophers were down 7-1 before coming back to win 10-8.
– Joe Sperry picked up the win on the mound after throwing 4.2 innings with three strikeouts. Seth Clausen got the save after throwing 2.2 hit less innings, striking out six.
– The Gopher offense produced 15 hits on Sunday, Hokenson and Elbeery each had three. Richter, Spanier, and Neels also each chipped in two.

Scouting the Jayhawks
– The Jayhawks hold a 14-1 overall record.
– Sophomore Brady Ballinger leads the Jayhawk offense, slashing .463/.815/613.
– Kansas is coming off of four straight wins over Milwaukee.
– Head coach Dan Fitzgerald has entered his third season as the Jayhawks leader.  He is a native of Edina.

Opponent Series History
– The Gophers and Jayhawks first squared off back in 1990 and most recently in 2022 at the Cambria Classic. The Gophers won that game 8-1. The Gophers lead the all time series 8-3.

Hit Parade
– The Gopher offense has produced 47 extra base hits through the first 13 games of the season, 22 of which have been home runs.
– Nine different Gophers have hit a long ball so far this season.
– Junior Drew Berkland leads the way with six home runs, Easton Richter is right behind him with four.
