(Minneapolis, MN)  —  The University of Minnesota baseball team upped its winning streak to five games in a row with a 7-3 win over South Dakota State yesterday in Minneapolis.  Junior Matt Fiedler of Eagan collected two hits and drove home a run, and raised his season batting average to .422.  The Gophers are now 19-and-10 on the season.  The Jackrabbits dipped to 10-and-21.  Minnesota hosts Maryland this weekend for a three-game Big Ten series at Siebert (SEE-bert) Field.  Meanwhile, the number-22 Golden Gopher softball team lost both games of a doubleheader against rival Wisconsin yesterday in Minneapolis.  The Badgers took the opener 6-3, taking advantage of three Gopher errors, leading to five unearned runs.  Wisconsin pulled away late in the nightcap to win, 7-1.  Minnesota is now 27-and-12 overall and 8-and-3 in the Big Ten.  The Badgers improved to 21-16-and-1 overall and 6-4-and-1 in the league.  The Golden Gophers play at Rutgers this weekend.
