Gopher football to host fans for two spring practice sessions

March 3, 2023 By Minnesota News Network

The University of Minnesota football team will hold two open spring practices for the public to come and watch the Gophers prepare for the 2023 season. Minnesota’s two open practices will be on Tuesday, March 28 and Tuesday, April 4. Both practices are scheduled to start at 5:15 p.m.

These two practices are free for the public to attend. The location of these two practices will be announced in the future.

Minnesota previously announced that it will hold its annual spring game presented by Holiday Stationstores, part of the Circle K family at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 22 at Huntington Bank Stadium. The game will be broadcast by BTN and the Gopher Radio Network.

The spring game is free for fans to attend. The game will once again end with the victorious team hoisting the coveted Goldy’s Cup and a player or players being named the Sid Hartman Spring Game MVP.

Fans are encouraged to bring a decorated oar to the spring game. These customized oars will be added to the inside of Huntington Bank Stadium where they adorn the hallway that the Gophers travel from their locker room to the field on game days. These inspirational oars are the final images the Gophers see before taking the field and serve as a way to connect the community and state with Gopher football.

The team will once again host its annual diaper drive at the spring game. Gopher fans have donated more than 115,000 diapers in the last six years and fans are encouraged to bring diapers to the game and drop them off outside the stadium near Tribal Nations Plaza (outside of West Plaza). These diapers will then be donated to the Diaper Bank of Minnesota where they will then be distributed to families in need.
