Minnesota junior Isabella McCauley (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) received an invitation to participate in the prestigious 2025 Augusta National Women’s Amateur April 2-5. This is the first time in the event’s six-year history that a Gopher has been invited to compete in the event, which has quickly become one of the top events for amateur players in the world.
“I’m so excited to be invited to the 2025 Augusta National Women’s Amateur,” said McCauley. “This is simply a dream come true. I’ve been working towards this for a long time, so it’s amazing seeing the hard work pay off.”
McCauley qualified for the distinguished event after being one of the 30 highest ranked players from the United States based on the Women’s World Amateur Golf Ranking, not otherwise qualified.
This distinction is another in a long list of accomplishments for the Minnesota native. McCauley was named to the final ANNIKA Award watch list this fall and was the first Gopher since 1989 to earn All-American honors after being named to the WGCA All-America Honorable Mention team.
“I am thrilled for Bella,” said head coach Matt Higgins. “Her hard work, dedication, and commitment have paid off. To compete against the best women amateurs in the world is a remarkable achievement, and I am excited to watch her showcase her talent at such a prestigious tournament. This is a testament to her perseverance and passion, I could not be more proud!”
The competition will take place April 2-5, 2025. An international field of 72 women amateurs will compete over 54 holes of stroke play. A cut will take place after 36 holes, advancing the leading 30 players and ties to the final round at Augusta National Golf Club. Broadcast and live-scoring information will be announced at a later date.
