(Lincoln, NE) — Alonzo Verge Jr. led all players with 22 points, and Nebraska (7-17, 1-12 Big Ten) snapped a 14-game Big Ten losing streak as they topped the Gophers 78-65 at Pinnacle Bank Arena Wednesday night. The Gophers (11-11, 2-11 Big Ten) were led by Jamison Battle in scoring and on the boards, as the sophomore clinched his third double-double of the season with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Payton Willis added 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists, while Sean Sutherlin tallied 11 points. The Gophers have lost five straight and haven’t won on the road since they be the Wolverines in Michigan back on December 11th. The Gophers are back home to host Penn State on Saturday at Williams Arena for a 7:30 P-M tip.
(Iowa City, IA) — Despite a big night from Deja Winters, the Gophers fell at Iowa 88-78 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Winters scored 30 points but it wasn’t enough especially in the fourth quarter when the Gophers were outscored 26-17. Sara Scalia added 23 points as the Gophers fell to 11-14 overall and 4-9 in the Big Ten. The Gophers also fell to the Hawkeyes at Williams Arena on Jan. 20th by a 105-49 score. The Gophers are home against Northwestern on Friday at 3:30 P-M.
