(Los Angeles, CA) — The University of Minnesota men’s basketball team continues its two-game west coast swing with a game tonight at U-C-L-A. The 13-12 Golden Gophers beat U-S-C on Saturday afternoon 69-66 behind a Gopher career high 25 points from guard La’Cye (luh-KYE) Patterson of Minneapolis. The win was the fifth in the past eight Big Ten games for Minnesota, which sits at 5-9 in the Big Ten. The host Bruins are 19-7 overall and 10-5 in the Big Ten, having won eight of their past nine contests. This is the first meeting between the Gophers and Bruins since Minnesota beat U-C-L-A in the N-C-A-A Tournament in Austin, Texas in 2013. This also marks the first-ever meeting between the two teams as a Big Ten Conference contest. The Bruins hold the all-time series record with a 5-2 mark. The Golden Gophers have never played a game at Pauley Pavilion, the famed home court for U-C-L-A. Tonight’s game tips off at 9:30 P-M.
