Host-University Minnesota Men’s golf team concluded its first tournament of the 2024-25 season by capturing a second-place, 10-over par (288-284-290–862) finish at the Gopher Invitational, led by Eduardo Galdos and Cormac Sharpe’s top ten finishes.
Iowa State took home the team title with a team score of 8-over par (292-289-279–860), with Big Ten-foe Nebraska’s Rudy Sautron taking home medalist honors with a score of 5-under par.
Notable:
Galdos began his final round with an unfavorable start, but quickly bounced back with four birdies in his final nine holes. Galdos would go on to finish in a tie for seventh-place, his best finish as a member of the Gophers, with a score at even-par (73-69-71).
Sharpe’s impressive first 36 holes vaulted him into the top-ten after the first day of competition. His final round of 75 placed the Scottish sophomore a tie for ninth, his second-highest finish of his Gopher career. Sharpe finished the tournament with a score of 1-over par (70-69-75).
Senior Bennett Swavely concluded his tournament in a tie for 24th place with a score of 6-over par (71-74-74–219).
Concluding their first tournament as members of the Gophers, freshman Chun-Ta Wu finished tied for 27th with a score of 7-over par (74-74-72-220), with fellow freshman Jack Crousore finishing tied for 36th with a score of 9-over par (77-72-73–222).
Competing as individuals, junior Jack Wetzel finished tied for 48th (73-78-73–224), while fellow junior Mason Roloff ended the tournament tied for 54th (72-73-81–226).
Also competing as an individual and making debut as a member of the maroon and gold, freshman Ryan Stendahl (77-79-78–234) concluded the tournament in 70th place. Sophomore Kyler Schwamb finished in 80th (79-79-83–241).
