The University of Minnesota Men’s golf team concluded the final round of the Badger Invitational Tuesday in Madison, Wisc.

The Maroon and Gold finished in 8th place overall, with a combined team score of 11-over par (292-288-295–875).

Northern Illinois nabbed first place with a combined score of 9-under par (283-280-292–855). Washington State’s own Sam Renner earned individual medalist honors with a score of 9-under par.

Notable:
Junior Cormac Sharpe carded five birdies in his final 18 holes, taking home a final round of 73. Sharpe concluded the tournament tied for 17th place with a score of 1-over par (69-75-73–217).

After carding back to back rounds under par, freshman Chun-Ta Wu shot up the leaderboard in the final round, finishing the tournament tied for 23rd with a score of 3-over par (79-70-70–219).

Seniors Bennett Swavely and Eduardo Galdos ended the tournament tied for 25th with a score of 4-over par. Swavely carded a final round of 77 ending with a score of 70-73-77–220, while Galdos nabbed a final 18 hole score of 76 finishing with a score of 74-70-76–220.

Competing as an individual, freshman Jack Crousore (72-75-78–225) finished tied for 45th overall with a score of 9-over par, with fellow freshman Ryan Stendahl (83-76-76–235) ending in 79th.

Staying Home:
Competing as individuals in the inaugural Tommie Invitational, juniors Jack Wetzel and Mason Roloff, and sophomore Kyler Schwamb wrapped up the final round Tuesday at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Stillwater, Minn.

Wetzel nabbed three birdies in his final round to take home a final round score of 74. The Gopher junior finished the tournament tied for 15th place overall, with a score of 7-over par (78-71-74–223).

Roloff (81-74-73–228) finished tied for 23rd with a score of 12-over par, with Schwamb (81-76-86–243) finishing the tournament tied for 57th.

Looking Ahead:
The Gophers will travel west to compete in the Alister Mackenzie Invitational, October 7-8.
