University of Minnesota redshirt-freshman Nathan Roy was named to the Freshman All-American Team by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA).
Roy started all 13 games (12 at left tackle and one at right tackle) for Minnesota during the 2025 season and protected for an offense that rushed for 1,572 yards and 15 touchdowns and one that threw for 2,469 yards and 19 touchdowns. He provided protection for quarterback Drake Lindsey, who set a program record for wins by a freshman quarterback with eight.
According to PFF, Roy played a team-high 766 offensive snaps in 2025 and allowed only three sacks in 440 dropbacks. PFF graded him out with a 77.7 pass block grade and he had four games last season with a pass block grade greater than 80.
He is Minnesota’s sixth FWAA Freshman All-American and the first offensive lineman to be recognized since Ben Lauer in 2013.
