(Minneapolis, MN) — University of Minnesota women’s soccer coach Stephanie Golan is spending her time at home like most everyone else, but is making it a point to stay in touch with her team on a daily basis. She says it is important to stay engaged and keep her athletes optimistic about what is happening. Her players are all distance learning from their homes and trying to get school work done, while also staying in physical shape. Golan says they have virtual meetings on line and she asks everyone of her players to tell her some good news about their lives before the meeting ends. She says that has been therapeutic for everyone. Golan also says they have been having fun with family pets, making sure they make an appearance during the on-line video meetings. Women’s soccer is a fall sport, so the team is not “in season” at this time, but Golan says it is still hard to not see the players in person, so they are doing what they can to keep team chemistry high. Golan says she feels for her counterparts who have had their spring sports seasons canceled.
