The University of Minnesota women’s soccer team (6-7-3, 2-5-3 Big Ten) played to a 0-0 draw against Oregon (2-10-5, 0-6-4 Big Ten) on Sunday afternoon in front of 425 spectators at Pape Field.
The Golden Gophers and Ducks were even in both total shots (11) and shots on goal (4). Minnesota goalkeeper Sarah Martin recorded four saves, recording her fifth shutout of the season.
Caroline Birdsell led the Gophers with five shots, followed by Paige Kalal with three.
Minnesota had six scoring chances in the first half. The Gophers were awarded a penalty kick in the 29th minute, but Kalal’s attempt was saved by the Oregon goalkeeper.
In the second half, Minnesota added five more shots but was unable to convert.
The Maroon and Gold return home next Sunday to face Purdue at 1 p.m. Central time.
