Golden Gopher star wrestler Gable Steveson of Apple Valley has had a busy past five weeks. He won his second consecutive Big Ten heavyweight championship on March 7th at Penn State, followed that up by winning his first national championship on March 20th in St. Louis. And, then last weekend, he won the U-S Olympic trials in Fort Worth, Texas and will represent the United States in freestyle wrestling at this summer’s Olympic Games in Japan. In addition to everything else, Steveson became the second Gopher to win the Dan Hodge Trophy, given to the nation’s top collegiate wrestler, when that award was announced last week. Steveson became the 11th Gopher wrestler to qualify for the Olympic Games.
