Sophomore Mariana Mesones led the University of Minnesota women’s golf team with a tie for fifth place at the Boilermaker Spring Classic, carding an even 216 (75-70-71) across three rounds.

As a team, the Gophers moved up the leaderboard two spots to tie for fifth place, the team’s best finish of the spring season. Minnesota ends the event with a total score of 24-over par (300-294-294).

Illinois took home the team championship with a score of 11-over par (296-281-298).

Notable:
Junior Ruby Chi recorded a top-15 finish, tying for 11th place with a score of 5-over (73-75-73). This is her best tournament finish as a Golden Gopher.

Isabella McCauley wrapped up the event tied for 20th after posting a three day score of eight-over par (76-73-75). Her sister, freshman Reese McCauley, improved by two strokes between rounds to end the event tied for 40th at 12-over par (76-77-75).

Junior Madison Le rounded out the team lineup for Minnesota, finishing tied for 65th with a score of 18-over par (81-76-77).

Competing as individuals, Jordana Windhorst-Knudsen finished tied for 48th with a score of 14-over par (76-76-78). Sara Tomaszewski followed closely behind, tying for 56th at 16-over par (78-75-79).
