Gopher Women Roll; Gopher Men Fall Short

(East Lansing, MI) — Joey Hauser connected with a tenth of a second left to lift the 10th ranked Spartans to a 71-69 win over the Gophers. A.J. Hoggard set up the final bucket for Hauser who connected to improve M-S-U to 14-2 overall, 5-0 in the Big Ten and remain unbeaten at the Breslin Center with an 8-0 mark. The Gophers suffered their third straight loss to drop to 10-4 overall as the go to 1-4 in the conference. Eric Curry lead the way for Minnesota with 19 points. Eylijah Stephens had 18. The Spartans sweep the season series including a 75-67 win at Williams Arena last month in the Big Ten opener. Up next for the Gophers they’ll host Iowa on Sunday afternoon at 1 P-M.

 

The Gopher men fell at Michigan State while the women’s team pulled a win out of Madison.

(Madison, WI) — The Gophers women cross the border on Wednesday night and came away with an 82-66 victory over the Badgers. Kadi Sissoko had 16 points while Sara Scalia and Deja Winters each had 14. The game also marked the first game back for head coach Lindsay Whalen who missed the previous two contests after undergoeing an emergency appendectomy last week. The win moves the Gophers a game over .500 to 9-8 overall and 2-3 in the Big Ten. They’ll return home for a Saturday matchup against Ohio State for a 5 P-M tip from Williams Arena.
