The University of Minnesota women’s basketball team (5-2, 0-0 Big Ten) fell to the Alabama Crimson Tide (6-0, 0-0 SEC) 63-58 at Baha Mar Convention Center Wednesday evening.

Hart added eight points to her 11-rebound game for the Golden Gophers. Grace Grocholski helped out with 18 points and six rebounds and Brylee Glenn chipped in with 13 points and four assists.

How It Happened
Minnesota struggled out of the gate, falling behind 16-8 at the end of the first quarter.

Minnesota chipped away at that deficit and built a 22-15 lead before going on a 5-0 run, highlighted by a bucket from Glenn, to increase its lead to 27-15.
The Crimson Tide then came roaring back to take a 27-17 lead heading into halftime.

Minnesota came out of halftime rallying and had constructed a 27-20 lead before going on a 6-0 run to expand its lead further to 33-20 with 8:24 to go in the third. Alabama responded to seize a 44-43 lead entering the fourth quarter. Minnesota played well near the basket, scoring 14 of its 26 points in the paint.

Minnesota then came back to even it up at 50-50 before going on a 5-0 run, finished off by Grocholski’s three, to seize a 55-50 lead with 6:01 to go in the contest. Alabama then asserted control, outscoring the Gophers 13-3 the rest of the way to hand Minnesota the 63-58 loss. Minnesota took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring 10 of its 15 points in the paint.
