The University of Minnesota women’s basketball team (20-10, 8-10 B1G) is set to begin the 2025 Big Ten Tournament with a first round matchup with Washington (18-12, 9-9 B1G). Tip off is set for 2:30 pm.

Gopher Notables
• Amaya Battle and Grace Grocholski earned Big Ten Honorable Mention honors on Tuesday afternoon with Maggie Czinano earning the Sportsmanship Award for the second consecutive year.
• The Gophers closed out Big Ten play on Sunday at No. 23/22 Michigan State. Minnesota fell 73-58 at the Breslin Center. Grochoslki had 23 points and a career high four steals followed by Tori McKinney who had 17 points. McKinney was 6-6 from the charity stripe and has the best free throw percentage of any freshman Gopher at .890 (73-82).
• Minnesota set a program record this season with 12 nonconference wins, surpassing the previous high of 11 set in seven different seasons, most recently in 2018-19.
• On three occasions this season, five Gophers have scored in double digits (Montana, Illinois, Ohio State).On 10 occasions, four have scored in double figures (Nebraska, Prairie View A&M, UMass Lowell, Illinois, Houston, Rutgers, Maryland, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Oregon).

Minnesota in the Big Ten Tournament
• Minnesota has picked up the No. 13 seed and will face No. 12 seeded Washington on Wednesday in the opening game of the Big Ten Tournament.
• The Gophers are 11-31 overall in the Big Ten Tournament, with their only appearance in the final occurring in 2005.
• Last season, Minnesota defeated Rutgers 77-69 in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. Amaya Battle scored a Big Ten Tournament program record 32 points to help lead Minnesota over the Scarlet Knights.
• Battle’s 32 points eclipsed Gadiva Hubbard (2017) and Jamie Broback (2005) for most points by a Gopher in the Big Ten Tournament.
• In addition, Battle also had a Big Ten Tournament 15 free throw attempts record with her 11 makes being the second most in a single conference tournament game at Minnesota.

About the Washington Game
• Minnesota dropped its only contest against Washington earlier this season at Williams Arena 72-62. Grace Grocholski and Annika Stewart led the way with 13 points apiece followed by Mallory Heyer’s 10 points. Tori McKinney was 4-4 from the line, she’s been perfect 15 times this season, most recently at Michigan State (6-6).
• The Huskies have won their last four games, grabbing wins over Oregon, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Rutgers.
• Washington is led by Dalayah Daniels (55.8% shooting, 7.0 rebounds per game, 47 total blocks) and Elle Ladine (47.6% FG shooting, 40% 3PT shooting, averaging 17 points per game).
• The Huskies are shooting 37.5% beyond the arc, the best percentage in the Big Ten ranking them eighth in the NCAA.
• From the field, they’re shooting 47.8%, ranking them 32nd in the NCAA and second in the Big Ten.
