Gopher women’s gymnastics into offseason (AUDIO)

(Minneapolis, MN) — University of Minnesota women’s gymnastics coach Jenny Hansen says she is getting over the disappointment of their season being canceled. She says the Golden Gophers were having a great season, ranked in the top ten in the nation, and about ready to host top-ranked Oklahoma in the first-ever home sellout for the program, when everything was called off in March. Her team was hoping to advance to the N-C-A-A national championship tournament, which was supposed to have been this weekend in Texas. Hansen says they understand why things are at a standstill in sports and know the greater good is being served to help national health. She also says this “stay-at-home” time has been good for her to spend a little more time with her husband and her two sons. Hansen says she holds virtual team meetings each week and continues to recruit prospective athletes by connecting with them on-line from her home.
