(Minneapolis, MN) — The University of Minnesota women’s hockey team is celebrating another W-C-H-A regular season championship after sweeping Bemidji State over the weekend. The Golden Gophers entered last weekend in second-place but received some help when Wisconsin went to overtime twice against Ohio State, leaving the door open for Minnesota to capture the league title outright. Gopher head coach Brad Frost says watching his team capture the trophy was one of the best moments of his 19-year coaching tenure at Minnesota, which includes six regular season W-C-H-A titles and four national championships. The Gophers earned a first-round bye in the W-C-H-A postseason tournament this coming weekend and will return to action the following weekend for the W-C-H-A postseason semifinals.
