(Minneapolis, MN) — The 16th-ranked Golden Gopher wrestling program starts its dual meet season by hosting number-two Oklahoma State Saturday night at Maturi Pavilion. Tomorrow’s meet will mark the first appearance by Gopher heavyweight superstar Gable Steveson since he won the Olympic gold medal in August and later announced he would return for another year with the Golden Gophers. Minnesota head coach Brandon Eggum says it is exciting to have one of the wrestling blue blood programs in town to open the home schedule. Eggum says the plan is to have Steveson wrestle in each of the home dual meets this year. Steveson also signed a Name, Image, and Likeness deal to make appearances for the W-W-E, so his schedule will be hectic. Saturday’s match begins at 7 P-M and there are tickets still remaining.
