(Minneapolis, MN) — Golden Gopher junior forward Jordan Murphy of San Antonio scored 17 points and hauled in 10 rebounds for his 13th double-double of the season to lift Minnesota to a 77-63 win over Oral Roberts on Thursday night at Williams Arena.
Sophomore Amir Coffey of Hopkins added 15 points, while senior point guard Nate Mason of Decatur, Georgia scored 14. Sophomore Michael Hurt or Rochester tallied a career high 10 points as the Golden Gophers improved to 10-3 on the season. Oral Roberts is 4-11 after the setback.
Golden Eagles forward Chris Miller scored a career-high 18 points, tops on the floor. Minnesota struggled to defend the Golden Eagles big man, who made 9 of the 15 shots he took. Emmanuel Nzekwesi added 10 points and a game-high 15 rebounds.
The Gophers used an 11-0 run early in the second half to grow their lead to double-digits. Murphy and Coffey scored all 11 points during that stretch. That was part of a larger 23-4 run by Minnesota that resulted in a 20-point advantage.
Minnesota played without starting guard Dupree McBrayer of Queens, New York, who missed the game with a leg injury. Hurt started in his place.
