(Minneapolis, MN) — The Golden Gopher football team opens the season Thursday night with a home against North Carolina at Huntington Bank Stadium. Minnesota hoping to build on a 6-7 season from a year that included a bowl game win over Bowling Green in Detroit in December. North Carolina was 8-5 a year ago, including a 31-13 win over the Gophers in Chapel Hill. Golden Gopher offensive lineman Tyler Cooper of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin says he believes the offensive line is the closest group that he’s been a part of and they are determined to be good. He says this is a talented group of players up front that can have an impact on the game. Cooper says U-N-C has a “bunch of very talented players” that will provide a big challenge to Minnesota tomorrow night. The game kicks off at 7 P-M and is a “Gold Out,” meaning Gopher fans are asked to wear gold attire. There are tickets still remaining for the game, although it is nearing a sellout.
