Gophers Split on Road

January 19, 2020 By Minnesota News Network

(undated)  —  Both the Gophers men’s and women’s basketball teams were on the road Sunday afternoon and both came back with mixed results.  The men fell at Rutgers 64-56 despite 19 points from sophomore Daniel Oturu.  Oturu was one of two double-digit scorers for Minnesota (10-8, 4-4), joined by junior Payton Willis who added 12.

While the Gopher men fell at Rutgers the women pulled out a victory at Purdue.

The Gopher women however stopped a five game skid with a 72-59 victory at Purdue for their third straight win at Mackey Arena.  Freshmen Jasmine Powell and Sara Scalia each scored six points during the stretch, while junior Gadiva Hubbard added five and freshman Barbora Tomancova scored two.  The men are at Ohio State on Thursday at 5:30 P-M while the women will host Wisconsin on Wednesday at 7 P-M at Williams Arena.
