Gov,. Mark Dayton
Governor Mark Dayton and legislative leaders say they’re making progress toward having a special session the third week of August to pass a bonding bill and a tax-cut bill that were casualties during the regular session. Governor Dayton says it’s the “first time really since the end of the regular session I believe that a special session is very do-able…. And where there’s a will, there’s a way, and I think there’s a will.” Dayton says he made significant concessions by dropping his request for additional spending. All sides acknowledge work remains to resolve a big sticking-point — funding for Southwest Light Rail in the Twin Cities — but Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk says he sees a path to resolving it.
