Governor Mark Dayton this morning (1030am) unveils his plan for what to do with the state’s expected 329-million-dollar budget surplus. It’s not a large amount of extra money as state budgets go, but better than the 188-million-dollar deficit forecast earlier. Dayton said in Wednesday night’s State of the State address, “Our number one priority, which will be reflected in my budget on Friday, should be tax fairness for individual Minnesotans and their families.”
Dayton and Republicans could well have another battle over taxes for individuals versus businesses. Dayton wants more money for school security after the Florida shootings. He might also make another push to expand pre-kindergarten. Bw at the Cap.)
