Governor Mark Dayton says the resignations of Senator Dan Schoen and Representative Tony Cornish amid allegations of sex harassment are a “very important first step” and adds they’re both doing the right thing. As to some people’s concern that those resignations will shift the spotlight away from the problem of sexual harassment at the Capitol and elsewhere, Dayton says, “I think it is front burner. I think it’ll stay front burner for quite a while. I think it needs to be front burner so that these changes are effectuated, so we don’t go back to previous practices.”
The governor adds, “I expect what’s happening here, and also around the country, that that will remain a principal focus of employers, as it should.”
