Securing Minnesota’s border with Canada “in a technological way — not involving a wall,” Governor Mark Dayton says was one important topic today in a meeting with Canadian Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Minister Ralph Goodale. Dayton says the Canadian government knows of 600 people in the last year who went around customs checkpoints going from the U-S into Canada. Dayton says people are “circumventing customs on both sides of the border. So this really gets to be law enforcement in Canada that are picking up, identifying these people and bringing them into custody.”
Dayton says he and Minister Goodale also talked about ways to making border crossing more efficient for those engaged in lawful activities.
