Governor Dayton today vetoed the GOP tax plan in St. Paul at Bruce Vento Elementary School surrounded by students. Dayton said he’s vetoing the bill because Republicans “have not met the condition I set, which is to include the emergency school aid and also because it’s a bill that’s skewed toward the rich.” Dayton is referring to his $138 million proposal for emergency school funding. Republican leaders say local school boards and administrators can make the right decisions for their students. The leaders are also calling on the governor to meet with them today for negotiations–as there are fewer than four days remaining in the session. Here is the governor’s veto announcement:
