Governor-elect Tim Walz began his five-day statewide listening tour on home ground in Mankato this morning. The focus is increasing effectiveness of state agencies, Walz says “because this truly is, when it comes to governance, this is about service to constituents, service to consumers.”
Representative Jack Considine suggested splitting the state Human Services Department into two agencies, noting it currently handles everything from the state security hospital to daycare. Minnesota State University Mankato President Richard Davenport says the Education Commissioner position should be re-created to better serve all levels of education.
Governor-elect Walz is in Luverne (245pm) and La Crescent (730pm) later today, while Lieutenant Governor-elect Peggy Flanagan makes stops in Marshall (1230pm) and Granite Falls (230pm).
